Things are going to be okay, i think.  The smoke is going to take a few weeks to completely clear up, but that's to be expected.  All of the fires are seeing increased levels of containment because the crazy Santa Ana Winds have FINALLY decided to die down.  Full containment of the Witch Creek Fire (the one closest to UCSD) is expected by Sunday.  ( Read more... )

The evacuation boundaries have moved north.  People who were evacuated in Del Mar are allowed to go back to their homes.  Not sure about whether or not this is due to the fact that firefighters have increased containment of the Witch Creek Fire or if the winds are changing.  I know the fire itself is still making its way through all the expensive ( Read more... )

Witch Fire = 1% containment.  Just heard that.  That's the fire that's closest to us right now.  It's about five miles away from reaching Del Mar, which has mandatory evacuations in a lot of areas.  Del Mar is about... 10 miles away from where we are.  A lot of local news stations have lost broadcasting capabilities because Mt.
